Akaash Singh is a sikh american singer, songwriter and musician who is known for his folk rock style of music. He was born in Boston, massachusetts in 1984. After studying musicology and musicology study at the university of massachusetts, Boston, Akaash Singh began his musical career as a singer and songwriter. He has released two full-length albums and several ep's since 2006. His first full-length album "Akaash Singh" was released in 2022 and was produced by brian may. The album contains 10 original sikh rock and folk songs and is filled with stop-start music that does not allow the listener to enjoy it more than once. The show began with a video of Akaash Singh walking through Boston's some of the oldest streets still used when the city was founded. The video and the music were created with the goal of showing how the sikh community is still very important in the city of Boston. The second song on the show was "gurmul gaur" which is a song of thanksgiving. The song is played before each day of the year. The song is also used as an intro for the show. The song is written in the sikhistian tradition and is filled with traditionaldalit (a form of indian classical music) and indianesque (a type of indian classical music that uses indian music as a foundation) elements.
